RUOK DAY →
“Thursday 15 September, 2011 is R U OK?Day. A national day of action that aims to prevent suicide by encouraging Australians to connect with someone they care about and help stop little problems turning into big ones.
On that day we want everyone across the country, from all backgrounds and walks of life, to ask family, friends and colleagues: “Are you OK?”.
Because staying...

The numbers game
When I think of Mr. sqrt(-1) I am reminded of Mahatma Ghandi quote: “Be the change you want to see in the world”. Mr sqrt(-1) is motivated, disciplined, creative and curious. I admire these qualities in him and believe he can be a positive influence on those around him. What a shame Mr sqrt(-1) is completely imaginary.
Although I don’t know Mr 1984 particularly well, I feel that...

Last night I dreamed I was at the counter at work receiving and date-stamping forms. I can leave work but it doesn’t leave me.

The Origin of Headphone Jack: "Super-Hero"
As we all know, every hero needs an origin story. Headphone Jack was born out my fascination with morally ambiguous and flamboyant characters. Here is the origin story of Headphone Jack:
Our story begins at a discotheque not unlike one near you…
A long hot summer hung over the city unrelenting. The predicted cool change seemed like an eternity away. This particular Friday night, fed...

Fun with Maths
On Wednesday I weighed the same as 54 fully grown male ferrets.
Today I am a little over 1/8 the weight of a Smart ForTwo Coupe.
What I’m trying to say is that I’ve gained three kilograms in the last two days. On the bright side my legs feel a lot stronger and I feel that I’m getting back into my stride. Still, I was rather shocked when I got on the scales this morning.

The next step...
I’ve been in my current job for a year now. A friend got it for me to tide me over financially after my dad died. For the most part it served its purpose well. I had money in my own pocket, but more importantly it kept me grounded and active.
For a while now I’ve been aware that myself and three others in my office are likely to be rescinded during restructuring. Now it has been been...

It’s TMI Tuesday everyone. Ask your questions. None too big or too small.

Erotic...Erotic...
Today I gave my finished scarf away. This was my intention from the start.
I included it in the monthly game “The Money or the Box”. A game which I run at Vicbears’ Lazy Sunday Afternoon Lunches. Every month I make up a “secret box”, the winners of the game have the choice between a pool of money or the box’s contents.
Past boxes have had themes like...

"The Nightingale and the Rose" - An Oscar Wilde...
Today I present to you a favourite fairytale of mine by Oscar Wilde. If you haven’t read his fairytales, they are available freely online and are an excellent read. The Nightingale and the Rose is a dark and cynical fable about love.
“She said that she would dance with me if I brought her red roses,” cried the young Student; “but in all my garden there is no red...
